Digital Speech Standard (.dss)
The .dss file format is a manufacturer-independent and international standard for professional speech processing maintained by the International Voice Association (IVA). Offering outstanding audio quality for recorded voice, .dss allows for a high compression rate, reducing file size and required storage capacity.
Legal firms, hospitals, government institutions or other users can benefit from reduced data volumes, easier file upload and quicker transfer by e-mail, as well as reduced network traffic.
Crystal clear sound quality ensures that even low-volume dictations or those with background noise can be understood. At the same time the .dss file format keeps power consumption in check, extending battery life. The .dss file format also allows additional information such as patient/client name, docmunet type, etc. to be stored in the file header, further facilitating the organization of dictations and transcriptions.
The DSSPro format has two important new functions: It supports real-time file encryption during recording to protect confidential dictation data. The high 16 kHz sampling rate is even better suited to professional requirements providing a very natural playback of human voice and it provides optimized quality for speech recognition. DSSPro is far more that just a speech recording standard - it actually allows far-reaching management functions for the workflow. |
